The POWER of tables over layers!!

We looked at creating tables ready to enter our media into the page and the complications that can come with it, then we learnt that by drawing layers for the layout of our site, we can then convert layer to tables to automatically arrange our grid.... or something like that.

Today we looked at the basics of Dreamweaver, creating an index and linking to pages, also the pros and cons of using frames. I don't mind using frames but then i've not done it any other way.

Today i created my college Myspace page, i ashamed to have one myspace page, but now i have two yay!

I them spent more time doing research.

For my next trick

The final part of the session was looking at good and bad example of page optimizations, virgins home page was bad, as it was built in flash with no headers or tags, the money page on the other hand was a little more optimized as it is selling a service. I also played Line rider.

Making Money On The Interweb.... importance, importance.

Today we looked more at the importance of optimizing your web page, in order to make money and to assure you get lots of viewers. In Dreamweaver we looked at the importance of adding a title and also the various tags that need to be entered. Some tags are there only to communicate with the Search Engine and some are there to act as keywords or tags that would be typed into the search bar. Another factor when dealing with Google is the importance of using a Heading 1 setting for keywords in the site description, if you do not Google's system will not recognize the importance and will reduce your pages chance of a good place in the search results. This is the 5th time i have written importance.

Friday 9th March

Today we looked at a documentary on the rise and rise of the ever popular Google. We learned that "do no evil" is an inaccurate slogan for the company as they have a obvious disregard for user privacy . They are also scanning all the words literature regardless of copyright. The buggers. I then carried on with research.

First lesson

The first session we talked about the web and how to make money off of it, using googles Adwords and Adsense operations. Adwords is a way for google to make money by having companies bid to have their ads show on relevant search results, on a PPC basis (pay-per click).
AdSense on the other hand is a way for your own website to make money, by putting the relevant
ads on your page and PPC will work the same way


We then made a start on writing our reports on good and bad myspace and web design
